چکیده

Lighting design is a demanding but very important task in computer cinematography, games and architectural design. Computer-assisted lighting design aims at providing the designers with tools to describe the desired outcome and derive a suitable lighting configuration to match their goal. In this paper, we present an automatic approach to the inverse light source emittance and positioning problem, based on a layered linear / non-linear optimization strategy and the introduction of a special light source indexing according to the compatibility of each individual luminary position with the desired illumination. Our approach is independent of a particular light transport model and can quickly converge to an appropriate and plausible light configuration that approximates the desired illumination and can handle environments with high occlusion.

Design of a High Range, High Efficiency Spread Spectrum Transmitter for Audio Communication Applications

This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...

An optical see-through display for mutual occlusion of real and virtual environments

In a mixed reality system, mutual occlusion of real and virtual environments enhances the user’s feeling that virtual objects truly exist in the real world. However, conventional optical see-through displays cannot present mutual occlusion correctly since the synthetic objects always appear as semitransparent ghosts floating in front of the real scene. In this paper, we propose a novel display ...

NURBS-based Inverse Reflector Design

Commonly used direct rendering techniques simulate light transport for a complete scene, specified in terms of light sources, geometry, materials, participating media, etc. On the other hand, inverse rendering problems take as input a desired light distribution and try to find the unknown parts of the scene needed to get such light field. The latter kind, where inverse reflector design is inclu...

Jornada de Seguimiento de Proyectos, 2010

The project consists of a central body (Illumination simulation) formed by three main blocks, which is oriented to the design (CAD) of active (luminaries, luminaries’ distribution) or passive illumination systems and elements (windows, skylights). The results of the three blocks from this central body will be applied to environments, which will be generated in the Urban modelling block, and wil...
